Studies on the Flow Test of Dental Amalgams

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the influences of load changes, and the flows on the regular cut, fine cut and atomized spherical alloys.
Three hours after amalgamation is started, the specimen shall be subjected to a constant axial load of 250 kg/cmz in a period of 24 hours.
The test specimen was grasped by a 1/100 mm dial gauge under a modified Spring Tester.
The results are as follows:
1. It was estabished that the flow increases in inverse proportion to a drop in. condensation pressure from 100 kg,¢¥cm2 to 60 kg/crrz.
2. The flow of spherical and fire cut amalgam is much lower than that of regular cut and pellet amalgarn.
